Ryan Kennedy

Ryan Kennedy is in his second season as an assistant coach at his alma mater after playing for the Spartans from 2006-07.

At UT, he was the starting second baseman for the 2006 and 2007 national championship teams. He was also selected by the Los Angeles Angeles in the 19th round of the 2007 MLB Draft as he played one year with the organization.

As a junior in 2006, the transfer from Manatee Community College hit. 327 while starting 52 games. He was also named second-team all-SSC.

In 2007, he hit .387 while ranking second on the team in hits (96), RBI’s (63) and walks (42). While starting all 63 games, he also slugged 13 home runs. He was named first-team all-SSC and was selected to the all-South Region team by ABCA/Rawlings and Daktronics. His defensive play also earned him a Rawlings “Gold Glove” for the South Region.

The native of Bradenton attended Lakewood Ranch High School before playing baseball at the University of Florida as a freshman. He then played one year at Manatee CC, where he hit .338 as a sophomore. Kennedy was also a member of the 1997 Little League World Series team that finished second in the nation and third in the world.

Kennedy is a 2008 graduate of The University of Tampa, earning his degree in Sports Management.
