J.R. Hopf

J.R. Hopf is set to begin his third season as a catcher in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league organization.  After signing in June 2006 he played in the Advanced Rookie Pioneer League with the Helena Brewers and finished the year with the High A Brevard County Manatees of the Florida State League.  He began the 2007 season back with the Manatees, receiving call- ups to the Nashville Sounds, AAA affiliate in the Pacific Coast League, for the month of June and the playoffs. 

A 2006 graduate of the University of Tampa, Hopf was a part of the 2005 Spartan baseball team as well as a member of the 2006 NCAA II National Championship team.  While at the National Championship, he was named to the All-Tournament Team as catcher. 

Hopf was born and raised in Tampa, playing Little League baseball at Tampa Bay and Palma Ceia Little Leagues.  He also attended his first two years of high school at H.B. Plant High School.  He resides in Tampa during the off-season.
